The national leader of the Mexican Ecologist Green Party (PVEM), Karen Castrejón Trujillo, announced that the political force will compete without the participation of Morena or any alliances in the 2027 elections in San Luis Potosí. Castrejón Trujillo emphasized that the PVEM is ready to compete with its own candidates and that this decision reflects the strength the party maintains in the state. She stated that the party's growth is based on government results, presence in Congress, and local leaders who maintain close ties with the citizens of San Luis Potosí. “The Green Party is ready with the leadership we have, with the profiles of men and women who deliver results every day, we have important cadres of young people and women who work and get results in the different chambers,” she expressed. She also confirmed that the main objective is to maintain control of the state government, which is currently headed by Ricardo Gallardo. In this context, Senator Ruth González Silva, the governor's wife, is profiled as one of the main figures of the PVEM for the governorship of San Luis Potosí. Her political aspirations generated controversy after Morena aligned the selection of its candidates for state elections with the anti-nepotism reform, which will apply to all parties until 2030. In response, Ricardo Gallardo spoke out against the measure, arguing that his wife's aspirations do not constitute an act of nepotism, as this figure applies to cases of appointments as a state public official.
